    Fishing Venice, La.

We made it back offshore on Friday after several days of windy weather that kept us at the dock. Butch Moore and his son joined us. He had been rescheduling since early August and he finally got a day that turned out to be one of the nicest days either of us had fished in a while... Perfect Weather and Sea Conditions. We started out Tuna Fishing and took a tour of the Gulf for the most part, covered a lot of area and ended up with two small blackfin. At noon we decided to try our luck fishing for Cobia. It turned out to be a good decision and the Moores ended up going 4 for 6 on cobia. On Saturday I took out part of the ARC inc. group from Alabama. Once again we tried briefly for Tuna in the morning hitting a couple of spots with no luck, the wind picked up from about 5 knots to about 15 knots in about an hour. The wind changed the game plan and targeted species for the day and we once again took advantage of the Cobia bite and the crew went 5 for 8 on Cobia. Four of them were in the 30-40lb. range and 1 about 20lbs. The fishing is very good right now. There were a lot of tuna caught this weekend but you had to be in the right place at the right time. They aren't spread out all over like they usually are, instead they have been in one particular area, which we weren't in. That will probably change after the next couple of days since they move around a lot. I would expect them to start filling in all the areas that they always frequent since they water conditions are perfect and they are full of bait. Conditions are shaping up to hopefully give us a great month of fishing. The water temps. are starting to fall which should bring in plenty of big tuna and wahoo. But, one of the most important things about fishing from Venice, La. as compared to other places throughout the country is that there are so many species of fish to try for. If one isn't cooperating then there is always something else to fish for. We've got open days in October and November. The weather has been about as nice as it gets, not to hot or cool, very pleasent. The marina was full of activity this weekend and it was a great atmosphere to be in because everyone was catching fish and having a good time. This is the first time I have seen it like this in a while.
