x-treme vs x-factor malibu

I am looking at both, what are the opinions. Both look capable. Extreme is described as an allrounder, xfactor pure fish dive ?

Re: x-treme vs x-factor malibu

Had EXT and now have XFactor.............Prefer Tarpon 16 angler. Faster and MUCH better for long trips. Needs rudder kit though. I'm tired of getting left in the dust and getting pooped too soon. Still have the X Factor but WILL be tradeing up when I get the $$$$

Never recovered on the beach though and hear it can be tricky but not sure if they had rudder when they were out there. Rudder is KEY!!

Ok then I get it. Well just get either. Depends on how big a guy you are. Bigger guys get the X Factor the new Cobra FND is very nice too! Check it out.

Re: x-treme vs x-factor malibu

I have a FND and it is like an SUV for space. Paddles really nice for a big boat.
I am big 6'3" and around 250 and no issues. Get a good seat and some forward rodholders and have fun. I have been taking my son out since he was twelve ( Now 17) . Big fun and good exercise. No gas either.

Re: x-treme vs x-factor malibu

I have the x-factor. It is a tank. It is super stable, slow, but I never have to worry when I want to get something out of my dry bag that I will flip over. There is a lot that I like about it. It is heavy. My friend has a cobra fish and dive and I can't keep up with him. I had the factory bait tank in and flipped in the surf and my boat filled up with water. I carry a pump now and made some turnbuckles dohinkies to hold on the tank. Someone ought to make liners for the hatches to keep the water out and be able to store gear if desired. I would not be that hard. I would not purchase this boat again because I want to surf launch and I want to go fast. I probably will trade for the tarpon 16. I always put wienners in my boat for boyancy, just in case. I really can't see taking a kid on the front hatch, not with your fishfinder mount right there. It is a great boat for hauling lot of stuff, big fish, and lots of weight. I may put a trolling motor on mine and use it in the harbor. I had people pass me right and left at la jolla a few weeks back.

Re: x-treme vs x-factor malibu

I don't want to make it sound like I don't like my x-factor, I do. I have lots of space, lots of rod holders and even love the ones in the gator hatch. I like to store my drybag on the gator hatch. It is very stable. My friend fishes strictlly fresh water, takes a cooler and beer, anchors up and loves his boat. I love it too. I guess you can't do it all with one boat. I may not want to part with my x-factor, either. I do like it.

Re: x-treme vs x-factor malibu

I have an xfactor and it's the best. cause it's mine and I outfitted it, and I've never ridden another kayak. So to me it's the best.
