Sealine-X 20h

Hello! New dude here to bloodydecks. I wanted to break the ice with a reel question.

I have a Daiwa Sealine-X 20 ha and was wondering what you guys think might be the best application for it? I currently have it spooled with 15# and was thinking of matching it to a 196-7. Might it be better to spool it with 20# and match it to a 270? I use it mainly for live bait on Calicos.

Glad to be part of this board.

hey craig, looks like you have it pretty well covered. you may want to upgrade to carbontex washers, and some cals grease just in case mr. yellowtail wants to play. i use the x-20 and x-40 alot for local fishing. good luck............bruce

I would rather if I was you put it on the 270 with 15lb that's just me though... love that reel, best bang for the buck I think... I say go with the 270 just because it has a little more pull in it... Either rod will work though...

One of my favorite reels. I have like 150 yards of 30 spectra on the bottom and then tie on using a worm knot some 100 yards of 15 or 20lbs pline.

I used it for calico to albies. I totally agree, best bang for the buck reels I have.

On the rod. Calstar 800XL or Calstar 800XLH. Have take it on 3/4 day trips all the way to 5 dayers to use offshore for the albies.

What would be the minimum amount of line you'd want on this reel for albacore?

And, do you think calicos are more line-shy with 20# as opposed to 15# with live bait?
