Vote Now-Best 30# Reel

I'm about to pick up a custom wrapped CJBF80 DH and need to pair the best reel for it, to fill the gap between my 25# and 40# rigs. To be used for flylining dines/chovies on paddy stops and on the slide, usually on 2-6 day trips out of S.D. Looking to spool with 40# spectra, straight to 30-40# fluoro-depending on conditions

Please vote using these options and give me your opinion for your specific choice. Thanks guys.

SALTIGA 30, fill it with 50lb braid and fish a short topshot of 30-40lb.

First off, you'll want to use atleast 50# spectra backing, 65# would be the standard.

2nd, I own avet, newell and daiwa 30# reels.

the avet mxl, I'm tired of the leverdrag on this little reel, preset knob backs off by itself, corrosion issues.

the daiwa (saltist), the free spool lever gets stuck if you don't grease it often, has happened on 2 of 3 I own.

the newell, minimal maintanence, yrs of service, no corrosion isssues, lightweight, soooooooooo easy to work on yourself.

my vote Newell 332 w/ greased ht-100 drags = dependable workhorse

No Brainer. Caught more fish than all those other reels combined. Quick change spools and you can buy 4 of them for what those other reels go for. Jigmaster baby!

TRQ200

C'mon now, be fair and add the Penn Torque TRQ200 to the list; it's right in the middle of the already listed group as far as line capacity and price.
Holds 400 yards of straight 65-pound spectra and a 10-foot topshot; or 250 yards of 50 pound spectra plus a 100-yard topshot of 30 pound mono, adjust to your own line system and test preferences.
Over 30 pounds of drag straight out of the box, more cranking power than other high-speed reels due to "double wide" gears and no bridge assembly, and particularly the "disengaging pinion gear" allows awesome freespool, Made in USA.
Granted a bit heavier than others but that is purposeful to get the power and strength built in, and once it's on a rod and rigged up, you don't really feel it.
I also often fish bait on 30 pound with the little Torque TRQ100, setting it up with 325 yards of 50-pound spectra and a 10-foot topshot, which is plenty of line for most any "non long-range" application, and the more than 20 pounds of drag is way more than I actually ever use. The TRQ100 also has the same magnetic cast control as the Penn 525MAG for those who like that feature.

I'd go Trinidad if you want a refined retrieve, great power, and great customer service to back it up.
