So me and my bro were on our regular 2 day trip for jun-aug. We saw most of the regulars at the landing and it was time to head off to go fish. It was a rough on the way out and we ended up at Santa Cruz island.
We were I believe the only boat there until the full day boats arrived. We would finish most of the white sea bass & halibut slayage before any other boat anchored. The bite was the same way for both days, all nice and early before the rest of the fleet arrived.
My bro got 3 white sea bass and 2 Halibuts. I got 2 white sea bass and 1 halibut. Less than average in general. The luckiest guy (Jose) got 7 halibut and i think 5 white sea bass. He landed 5 halibut the first day alone..pretty awesome.
I'll let the pictures do rest of the talking.
Early Tues halibut from the ups worker.

Next day we started out fishing for more halibut. Was too busy fishing to take pictures while the fish were being landed. So I'll start with pics of when we spend majority of the day Calico fishing.
Cute halibut that a bait squid grabbed and brought up
Quality calico. We would catch nearly 100 of these.
Biggest female sheephead i've ever seen coming in @ 17lbs. Strangest color too...almost all dull black.

What an unbelievable trip. The kind you hope for every time you go fishing. Except this time it happened. Would i have loved to catch more fish? Sure. But anytime I catch white sea bass & halibut in one trip, its a major success in my book.
As usual the crew and operation are top notch and both jackpot day wins went to the crew. We're on most of the other 2 dayers this year. Its looking like its gonna be an epic year of fishing.
