| FLW College Lake Shasta
Went way up to Lake Shasta this weekend for the first of four FLW National Guard College Tournaments this year. 40 teams from the Western Division came to fish the Spotted Bass in cool, windy conditions Saturday morning. We (CSULB) had a good day on the water, culling several of our fish in the first few hours of the one-day tournament. (BTW the new Rapala touch screen tournament scale makes culling effortless) They were hitting lighter tubes in 50ft of water deeper on smaller secondary points for the first few hours, and then the rest of the day we had luck drop-shotting a certain worm in green pumpkin. We weighed in 5 fish for 8lbs 1 oz, putting us in 5th place. This finish wins Long Beach Fishing Club $1000 and an entry into the Western Regional Championship this Fall. for the post-weigh in interview.
For all you college guys out there, start a club and enter the tournaments! We're the only school representing Southern California and would like to see some more schools involved. As for those anglers currently enrolled at CSULB, contact me and we have a spot for one more team member immediately.
