Cat harbor, they have been recorded there. Otherwise the "harbors" at Catalina aren't really harbors so much as they are coves. Cat harbor is a natural, shallow finger of green/milky water that sustains the spotties.

Does anyone know if there is any eel grass in Cat harbor?

Have you seen SBB (spotted bay bass)

That is a fine largemouth bass and jointed big bait (looks like a 3:16) in your avatar.
I caught a bass like that once (my bass was about as big as the lure you used to catch your bass).

I read on FacialBook that , a bunch of kids claim that fishing for spotted bay bass is now illegal, so be careful.

There is not much back bay type habitat for spotties on the channel islands. The only place I have seen spotties at Cat was in the way back of Cat Harbor at the isthmus. The water is shallow and almost always murky. I don't fish there often but I have seen 2 spotties come out of there. A friend of mine got a "Paralabrax Trifecta" there. A bass trifecta is not rare but this one came in 3 consecutive cast with out moving the boat. Mike
