In fact, he's revealed to me that he's never even registered on BD and now he's used up his allotment of "free viewings" here and is blocked."
Dave Crawdadguy is reluctant to post photos and make reports on the internet during his season. Lot of guys on the internet are critical of crawdad fishermen. You'll hear ill founded comments such as "they gut hook all their fish", or "catching bass on live bait is too easy". I think Capt. G can comment from experience now on those points here. I've seen punks on another site describing my boat and Dave and I, saying that we fish crawdads on the double anchors and that we kill all the big fish we catch. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Also, with the water level real low at Perris, very few of our preferred spots are in the water. We're being forced to fish secondary spots that are not as obvious. Then when you consider that all of the tournaments from DVL were relocated to Perris, the weekends are a mad house and full of tournament fisherman. There's something about "some" of the tournament guys who feel that because they paid an entry fee, they're "entitled" to fish the whole lake. These guys particularly dislike crawdad fisherman who double anchor and meticulously work a spot, often staying there all day. The tournament guys expect to have free run of the lake and do not like it when crawdad fishermen set up on "their spot" even though we were there first. It's just a mentality we don't share, but the fishing styles are diametrically opposed. We understand that and generally try to avoid confrontation, as we are out there to relax and enjoy first and foremost.

So you can understand why Crawdadguy is not posting reports, telling everyone he got the fish off this spot, etc. If you were out there and knew what to look for, you'd know what was going on. We do the same when we see tournament guys pull fish off new spots. In fact Dave watched a guy win a tournament getting a 24 lb limit on crankbaits off some new rocks just two casts away. When the guy left, Dave moved in, set up and banged a 10 just as the guy returned to fish the spot again. The tourney guy was bummed, but we know the guy and he realizes it was a fair grab of the spot. We've had the same happen to us when we hooked a big fish and a crowd of boats circled around to watch. The next day we were racing boats to the spot and did so for the next two months. I think that spot Dave grabbed from the tourney ended up producing all 4 of Dave's DD bass this year.

Now that our crawdad season is basically over, I know that Crawdadguy intends to post up a summary report of his exploits this year. Not sure whether he'll do it here. I think he's afraid of any porn trails he might get from visiting the site, as he's a school teacher.

The crowds are massing at Lake Perris, bass are spawning, crawdads no longer allowed, it's over for us. We concede Perris to the masses. It's time to hit the salt.
