Yes I'm the same guy from 1993 oarfish story. Yup been here on this rock awhile and am looking out on the water from the office right now... thinking about fishing runs coming up this weekend. Didn't eat it or try.... too hot (95) for storage and or anyone wanting to pick it up for studies. Thing was breaking up as we were pulling them from my boat. Super soft and weak fish. Such a weird fish and birds of the dock were not very interested, so the sea reclaimed her as it was most likely the plan from the begining.

Mike, Thanks for the reply. You must be in a hot zone for oarfish sightings -- 2 in 14 years. Pretty cool. Call me in seven years just before your next sighting and we'll both buy lottery tickets.

Fantastic. Once in a while someone out here is Hawaii Hooks something weird but and usually ugly. This fish is not only weird, It's beautiful. Thanks for the nice pictures Mike...........Aloha

Hi Mike. What a strange encounter. Once in a while someone here in Hawaii catches something weird but it's usually quite ugly. This fish is not only weird but beautiful. Thanks for sharing your photos........Aloha

Damn, just reading this thread now. Unbelieveable!!!!!!! Those are really nice looking fish, especially that reddish pink fintype thing flowing off the top of the head.....

Congrats on experiencing such a rare sight!!!!!
