Wow, congradulations on such a rare and priceless experience. I'm very jealous. Possibly they were at the end of their life span and blessed you with the knowledge they are out there.

I've fished the sea of Cortez for at least 20 years and this August saw and touched my first Whale Shark. Made my trip until my friend caught a golden Cabrilla on my black and purple mirror lure. He also caught a unidentified exotic fish with no pictures to research it. Both were released to hopefuly propigate. Then for a topper saw mexican foxes working the shoreline of an island. As we were preparing for the ride back to San Felipe on the Eric, captained by Pen, another smaller Whale Shark (about 12 to 14') blessed us with circling the boat for 1/2 hour.

Every time we think we have seen it all we are reminded of our ignorance. I guess that is why I will always be watching for the unknown adventure ahead. Great pictures and great post, thank you. Allen

That was a great write up...the pic of the Oarfish coming out of the water is awesome.....chance of a life time, and thanks for sharing.

That blue coloration is incredible, what is the story with this species of fish?? deep water ?is it a game fish? did both of them die? or did 1 return to the sea?
