Well said Amigo. Someone asked me the other day if I have ever been hassled by the police in Mexico, and/or ever paid them off. Candidly I said yes. I recalled one time my buddies and I had had a couple beers too many and were pulled over in La Paz. Ended up paying the cop the "fine" for DUI in Mex.-I think we pulled together about $40, he made us park the rig, and we walked back to our hotel. End of story. Had this happened here-fine $2000, insurance outrageous for 7 years and license revoked, classes, etc. etc.
I have a '79 Chevy K5 Blazer, with a stock 400 for my Baja rig. Parts everywhere, great 4 wheel drive performance, enough power to get out of trouble with the busses and trucks, good load capacity for long runs, and you can hide "in plain site" as the rig doesn't look like you are worth being hassled.

Nice Baja rig....
Yep...I have a '88 4 wheel drive 3/4 ton suburban I ordered direct from the factory in '88 with lots of trick stuff that came from the factory like 5600# front springs, dual shocks in front, cargo doors, dual battery/charging system, 42 gallon gas tank, full rock shields, turbo 400 tranny, tow package all just for Baja... low profile rig.........just a 105K miles on it 90% of it in Mexico....

Don't worry about your low profile rigs anymore
.... the Coop fishermen here in Asuncion are driving 2011 pickups... diesels, hummers mustangs.... you name it they have it.
The time of the naive pangero is over... these guys are business men now. And some of the Lobster guys or Ab divers make more down here then I did working at UCSD.
PS..........thats here in middle Baja... not one of the border big cities.

They can thank the asian market, but better to bank the money, S.f Bay herring market payed 4000.00 plus points over 10 percent roe content per ton in the 80's today with the down turn in the economy of Japan 200.00 a ton. Just sayin, got to say I love that town Acension and the locals, got to be like fishing the California coast 300 years ago. so sweet.I apologise now if I offended anyone with my post.

I took my kids to Baja last week and did a little fishing last Wedneday/Thursday near Mulege. We had another safe and fun trip..
Lot's of traffic coming into Ensenada, not!

Long lines at fuel pumps,

Very crowded at the boat ramp,

Lot's of boats on my secret spot,

My Daughter caught some nice Pinto bass,

We also had a nice sunrise or two,

We did have a couple of potentially dangerous characters hanging around,

Yep, everyone stay in the US, more fish for me and my friends to catch. Of course if nobody is going to Baja, why are the darn border lines so "F"ing long? Still going and still having fun.
BTW- I live in a great neighbor hood, and my house was broken into just a few months ago, lost $50,000 in Jewlrey, computers etc.. Muders and robberies every day in LA and other parts of Southern Cal, shootings at USC, so what's so safe here?

Gringos, stay in California its too dangerous for you guys in Mexico and there is no fish anymore everything is fished out in Baja, California has better fishing...so don't go specially in the summer time thats when danger is at its peak, the border lines to get back are too long and dangerous try Florida or Alaska it's safe there......
