Ensenada 3-30-12-Reds & Lings

Sammi and his crew from the SFV decided it was time to fish on the It's 4 Reels. We headed out around 6:30 AM in search of yellowtail. Buoyweather had predicted a tight swell this morning with conditions improving in the afternoon. And that is pretty much what happened as the morning was a little bumpy and the fish we were metering did not want to play. We looked for yellows at the Bajo but none were showing on the meter. Bait was scarce and the water was cold so we headed to Salsipuedes and made several drifts over a reef that had some good marks. Fish seemed to be moving in on the spot as the meter showed more and more fish with each drift. Hot setup was a rock cod gagnion with blue & white feathers and a strip of squid. Fish were active for about 2 hours before the bite shut off. It was a nice haul considering it had been slow for the rest of the fleet.

You forgot to mention that big bait ball we got in to on the way back
Unfortunately .what ever push the bait up didn't like our iron
Any how we got Some nice reds and lings

Good times for sure. You guys did a good job. Found out the other boats that fished that day were very slow. Not sure what was chasing the bait around the San Miguel area. Maybe next time you come down we will get some yellows.
