Thread: PROBLEM IN BAJA

Mosais Islas.
A friend of mine, taken from his vehicle at a stop sign.
In Mexico.
By the police.
He was never seen again.
Apparently his nephew was the target.
God damn mistaken identity, right?
The nephew was taken less than two weeks later.
Neither has been seen nor heard from in over 16 years.
Just like anywhere in the U.S., right?
I am sure the situation in that foreign nation
has improved greatly since then.....

Ooooops!
Mexico is a beautiful place full of wonderfully friendly people.
I will not go back for personal reasons.
You will probably be fine.

Holyshit.... it took 7 damn pages before Mr I get fucked alot posted... But he loves it here..

Then of course once someone has the courage to post up a decenting remark, the typical baggage piled on.
Sorry to bag on ya Mike.. it's just funny reading your post... we have an old guy named Paul who lives down here... I swear to god.. he gets chased by banditos every time he drives out of Asuncion. But he owns 2 houses and 4 trailer 2 boats etc etc, and has lived down here for years.
Anyway........I've never been happier in my life then the 1 1/2 years I've lived down here. And plan ion staying for many more... But YMMV!

40 years of traveling baja . Live part time in San Jose . Motorcycled all of baja . Worked on chase team trophy truck . Sure paid a few cops along the way but mostly only when they had valid reason. Fell safer here in baja Sur than most of US cities. Only positive thing about bad press in keeps the crowds down but fell sorry for the Mexican trying to make a living of of tourism

I liked your story about the accident in Mexico. The one thing about your encounter is no MEXICAN citizen was hurt. If you were to injure a Mexican citizen the outcome would probably be different. I know a guy who was in an accident down there where a child was killed. It took the American consulate to get him out of jail.
The people are great down there and I love Baja........but their rules are different and it's good to know what is what before you go. I still head down that way but I understand how their system works and make sure to be careful not to screw up.
