We left Cruiseport Marina at 5am and picked some nice sardines that had very few dieoffs throughout our long day of fishing. We headed to the Fish Dope #'s from the day before but the bite moved a little north to just south of the Hidden Bank with a few dry kelps on the way. The fleet was there along with many seiners and tuna pens. Everyone was drifting and soaking baits on both sides of a row of pens and there were hookups for most boats throughout the day. We went 1 for 2 on the football size bluefin. Pete Harmms was the lucky angler as this would be his first bluefin:
He also ate the heart for the good karma it will now bring him:
Beautiful day on the water and we finally put a local tuna on the boat for 2011. Weather seems to be settling down and we all are hoping that September and October will bring more tuna into the Ensenada area. We are also lowering our rates for offshore/tuna runs. Call or check the website for details.
Way to go Louie, hope the season gets better and better for you! I hope to make it out there in October. We killed it in October of 2009, so I would love some de ja vu!
