Ensenada 5-17-11-Yellow on the mirro lure

Myself and friend Angel left the slip at Cruiseport Village around 6 am in search of yellowtail. The fish have been showing just outside of the Sauzal area which is 3-4 miles north of Ensenada. We trolled a blue mackerel mirro-lure and an x-rap but saw no signs of barracuda or yellows. Decision was made to work the San Miguel Reef area. The trollers went out and we worked the outer edge of the reef when the mirro-lure gets slammed. Pulled in a nice 22.5 lb yellowtail in 58.2 degree water. No other fish seen or hooked here although there were plenty of bottom fish showing on the fish finder. This was the calm before the storm, and I mean that literally, so we headed out looking for kelps along the 500 fathom curve. Found one kelp with nobody home. Water was clean and a nice 64.5 degrees. Finished off the day, in the rain, at Salsipuedes for a nice load of rockfish and one lost mystery fish on the troll outside of the Marina Coral. It was most probably a yellow or white sea bass.

Tween Diego and Quintin...you're the dope. You don't/cant chase reports so you go and find yer own fish.

You are a "Pescadero" in the true meaning of the word.

I see a report from you and I am on it like a crack head on a construction site full of copper wire.

Love seeing your post Louie. I am super antsy to get down to Ensenada and get a day of fishing before I head out to Loreto in July.

Louie, ditto to the above about it being mandatory to check your posts.

Nice meeting you last month. To the other BD'ers reading this and for what it's worth, if you're in Ensenada you have to go and check out his sports bar - Tequillas. I had a helluva time getting my buddy to leave that nice bartender so we could keep moving along that nite....
