Ensenada 8-17-10-Inshore

Decided late in the afternoon to get out and fish. Called in Angel and Cesar and we were off in search of anything that would bite. Picked up a nice load of mixed sardines, mackeral and pinhead chovies from Ensenada Live Bait. Spoke to Mike Richardson and he said we should stay inside the bay and fish for halibut. We did and managed 2 including this nice one caught by yours truly on a drifted sardine:

We decided to head for Punta Banda and within minutes we were anchored up and chumming just in inside the 3 Hermanos. It wasn't wide open but we picked at a few calicos, sand bass, white fish, small white seabass and a jumping halibut. Cesar caught his halibut after it leaped out of the water chasing his bait as he was reeling it in. He dropped down right after and caught it. It was a fun last minute trip tha included some ice cold beer, great weather, great musica and some catching.

Nice catch Lou. Doesn't look like the yellows and dorado are going to come around this year. Don't get me wrong, Halibut is great, but I sure miss them yellows and greens! Heading out to Bajia de Los Angeles in a couple of weeks. Hope things look good then. I will stop in on the way back, see ya then!

Dorado and yellows are out there...all we need is the weather to hold out for more than a couple of days. May head out tomorrow and tomorrow to take another look. Give me a call before you guys head down. I'll make sure to have enough ice cold Pacificos on hand for Team Bloodyhooks.
