The Bill Collector took third in the Black & Green last year October! Clean, fast and a great crew plus it's a 32 Cabo Express, nice boat. It stables with Pisces so it can't be bad!

Surf fishing Cabo
Surf fishing can be really good here in the cabo area. I used to surf fish allot years ago when I first moved down here but I have not been doing all that much the last couple of years. I fish off my boat know when fishing inshore using the same lures with different rods while I move the boat slowly up and down the beach. I cast into the surf and its easier for me and I could cover more ground. There is nothing like catching a nice trophy fish off the beach though, its great fun
Oct can be a very good time to fish the beach. You can probably get into some roosterfish and Jack Crevalle around that time. It might be a little early for the sierra mackerel which can be great fun off the beach.
It helps to have a guide the first time or two. It will really shorten your learning curve and eliminate allot of frustrations early on. The is a great surf fishing tackle shop run by a guy named Stephen Jansen here in cabo that is a must visit if your into surf fishing. I was going to send you his link to his website but it seems to be down at the moment. Try to Google Jansen Lures Cabo and some stuff on him should come up. There was a really great American guide that I was turning people on to but he left for Hawaii awhile back chasing his girlfriend and he has not been back so who knows if he will ever come back. Somebody at Jansen Lures could help you out or I could try and find you a local to get you up and running.

ffice" />Hell if you twist my arm enough and you have a real pretty girl friend I might be willing to loan you some of my surf fishing gear so you don’t have to spend allot of money on something you might only use once. Of course you would have to leave your real pretty girlfriend for collateral on the gear.
A basic Cabo surf fishing set up is a 13ft Graphite fast action rod with like a Shimano Stella 10000 type reel. You want a real fast reel, Like a 6 to 1 gear ratio. I like to load mine with 65lb spectra but many people use 30lb.That 65lb line comes in handy when you hook a 40lb plus roosterfish or a big Jack and you want to get his ass in through the surf line. It really helps once you get him on the beach and you want to drag him that last couple of yards away from the waves. Depending on waht I'm fishing for a I tie around a 3ft mono leader mono leader from 30lbs to 80lbs
We use many different type plugs but the most popular are the ones that Jansen Lures makes. The one called the Cabo Killer is my favorite. Ranger lures are also real good and for the pargo and snappers there are all kinds of plugs and what not.
I long cast is important and then you wind that surface plug in fairly fast. Look up Cabo surf fishing on you tube and I’m sure you will find some cool video’s. My boat is just across from the Bill Collector on D dock. Nice boat. My boat actually won the Back and Green tournament last year and we are fishing it again this year. It’s a really fun bragging rights tourney with most of the money going to charity.
Look me up when you come down here and I would be more than happy to get you set up on the surf fishing. It can be great fun. While you’re at it check out my boat and see if you like it. My website is renegademikesportfishing.com. I pay allot of people to say nice things about me so don’t believe everything you hear.
Here is some pictures of when I was surf fishing I used to surf fish by myself allot so I don’t have many roosterfish pics since I released all my roosters and there was no time to get any pics

This was taken with my phone I grabed this toursit that was walking by and got him to take the pic. right in front of the Pedregal

Here is some of the bigger roosters we got off my boat back in mid june. Our best day was 14 roosters and 10 of them were over 45lbs with the biggest around 55lbs

I usually fish with Red Rum in Cabo,Their rates are good and I like their boats and crews.I haven't done any surf fishing there.Mainly because when my feet are on the ground in Cabo, there are to many other things to do,enjoy!
