Baja Bytes Conditions Recap Tuesday, January 31, 2012

SAC, Mexican agencies, etc. go silent while the Mexican visa story still seems be unfolding. Telephone calls are not being returned. I guess they are still trying to figure out how to put a smiley face on the whole fiasco. Meanwhile, here are a couple of links with recent experiences of BD'ers traveling across the line in Northern Baja.

How about October? (Cedros in October)

Baja Sur

Bahia Asuncion, La Bocana and Abreojos

Judging from the lack of reports, fishing has slowed somewhat. According to BD member surfdoc, "YT are here, but spotty. Getting 3-4 fish per outing at San Pablo on the YoYo... otherwise water temp dropped to 60 degrees and moon phase swells, etc has discolored the playa's so no surface bite."
"We're getting a few, but not worth braggin'. And IMO too damn much work."

Santa Rosalia & Mulege

Wind seems to be the common denominator.

Loreto

http://www.bdoutdoors.com/forums/baj...ournament.html

Magdalena Bay

Whale watching season has begun overshadowing any fishing in the bay.

La Paz and Los Arenas

Fishing THAT good? Here's another shot you won't see often...yellowtail caught on a paddle board? Yup! Jerry Tomasek who has a place in La Ventana caught this yellowtail in about 20 feet of water in front of La Ventana. He fought the fish 1 and 1/2 hours and the fish pulled him over two miles offshore! The next day...he did it again! He caught the fish on a live ballyhoo he caught on a jig!

Final Thoughts

Thanks for all the comments regarding the snook feature. It seems many of you share my interest in 'snooky' stuff. If you missed it, check out the photo in the Panama section of the huge snook caught in an obscure river in Panama. When do we leave? http://www.bdoutdoors.com/article/baja-snook-mexico/

Nice I enjoy the summary. I'm I missing the Tailhunter reports on BD or are they pulled off Jonathans site?

Jonathan and Jilly are busy busy keeping up the fishing, bar and restaurant. Right now they are on the show circuit and are opening today at the NEW ISE Las Vegas show. They are sponsors of B D and occasionally they forget to post. When that happens I pick up the report from their site.

Glad to hear that the summary works for you.
