FISHIN' CHICKS | LAUREN ALVAREZ
Q: Tell us more about the 3F Adventures show.
A: It showcases whichever fishery we are fishing that day. We spend time at a local eatery as well and we include some adventure on the way. So far we have filmed bonefishing down in Biscayne Bay with Capt. Joe Gonzalez, redfish from a kayak with Capt. Jason Stock and offshore snapper and amberjack with Capt. Tim Noe. We've eaten at some great places and done some pretty cool stuff in between the fishing, so make sure to check it out! We're looking forward to shooting some more awesome stuff soon.
Q:Does fishing on TV take some of the fun out of it?
A: Not at all! How I am in front of the camera is exactly the same as how I act when it's not rolling. What you see is what you get. The only difference is that you get to share the experience with others and document your catches so it makes it that much better. And, Sam always has his still camera with him and gets some incredible photos.
Q: So, what's the craziest thing that's ever happened to you on the water?
A: Oh man... there are so many! Those monster hammerheads always amaze me though. Especially when they are chasing free-swimming tarpon! I love watching the acrobatics.
Q: Ever been chased down by any sharks?
A:Yeah, being a tarpon angler I've seen and encountered my fair share of sharks! The hammerheads are awesome and pretty cool to watch. The bullsharks... not so much. They pack up and the show is over in no time.
Q: Got any cool trips coming up?
A: Actually I do. I'm planning on catching some swordfish in the Florida Keys with Capt. Brandon Mullar. I'm beyond excited about it. Being a west coast Florida girl I don't get to fish the deep water as much as I should. This trip should be a lot of fun.
And, a special thanks to Sam Root for letting us use these photos of Lauren. Check out Sam's website, www.saltyshores.com, for more of his photography.
